Bena

Bena was another once-thriving South Gippsland town, which once had a two-storey 40 room hotel, bakery, butcher and railway station.

In 2007, the South Gippsland Highway was diverted to bypass Bena, as part of a $23 million road improvement project. This triggered the closure of the primary school and moved alot of businesses to neighbouring Korumburra. The township and surrounding rural property is home to around 250 people, with just one business operating in the town at present (curtain shop).
